DESCRIPTION
William Jennings Bryan was a Nebraskan congressman, a three-time presidential nominee and Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson. Known for his impassioned stump speeches on the campaign trail, Bryan was a spokesperson for "free silver" and anti-Darwinism. This speech was originally delivered at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1896 and compiled by Bryan in "The First Battle: A Story of the Campaign of 1896."
