DESCRIPTION
In this lecture Wilhelm Ostwald, Professor of Physical Chemistry in the University of Leipxig, looked at the subject of a future life as he would discuss a problem in chemistry, rather than from a spiritual or religious perspective. “He shows that our relations to one another, and to humanity in general, are similar in kind, though different in degree, to the relations which exist between matter and energy in its simplest form. He thinks that the mortality of the individual is one of the larger factors in the immortality of the race, and that every step in personal self-education is a direct benefit to the race, so that self-education should be the highest aim of the individual.”
