DESCRIPTION
The first of Poe's detective stories featuring C. Auguste Dupin, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," was originally published in 1841. In this tale, Dupin is faced with a baffling double murder that has taken place in a house on the Rue Morgue. Most daunting is the fact that the murders have been committed in a room which is seemingly inaccessible, thus making the story the first locked room mystery ever written.
