DESCRIPTION
First published in 1839, Poe's classic tale, "The Fall of the House of Usher," joins the narrator on a visit to his childhood friend, Roderick Usher. The house, Gothic and ancient, and its inhabitants, Roderick and his twin sister, Madeline, all seem to be decaying together. As the narrator is drawn into the life of the house, the line between fantasy and reality, and sanity and madness, is blurred.
