DESCRIPTION
Poe's short story, "Berenice," first published in 1835, is a tale of a young man whose vicious obsessive illness dictates his life. He is engaged to be married to his beautiful cousin, Berenice; however, he cannot overcome his fixation on and fascination with, of all things, her teeth. His obsession drives him to desperation and inexplicable action.
