DESCRIPTION
Interactive opens up the world of designing on the web for graphic designers. The web is a 'hybrid space' for graphic communication, and print design skills alone are not enough to create great web design. This book investiages designing for interactive experience -- guiding the reader through the new territories of web design, showing how best to make use of existing skills, and how to develop new ones. The traditional graphic media of art, illustration, photography and typography combine in digital space with animation, film, and sound to actively engage the viewer. Interactive explores software, decodes jargon and gives guidance on how to juggle these various elements. Possible working methods are discussed and the book reviews the work of international web design studios with diverse, often non-graphic backgrounds, profiling new creative approaches and outstandingly innovative work. Interactive is essentially about the differences between graphic and web design, but the book concludes with an examination of their similarities and the potential for the two disciplines to merge.
