The First Part of King Henry is the second of Shakespeare's four-play series that deals with the successive reigns of Richard II, Henry IV (2 plays), and Henry V. The play tells of Henry IV, distraught over his son and heir, Prince Henry, who is led into a life of debauchery by Falstaff, while the Percy family attempts to wrest the crown from the Bolingbroke line.
