READER REVIEWS

1 reader found this helpful (1 rating)As the title suggests, these stories literally come with distinct world views, and the voices arising from those eclectic viewpoints are both fresh and powerful. The anthology opens particularly strongly with S.P. Somtow’s “The Bird Catcher,” a quietly disturbing tale of secret empathy and serial killing that rings with authenticity in its evocation of post-WWII Thailand. While the volume is billed as a collection of international stories, the storytelling succeeds at such a universal level that it might just as well be called The Apex Book of Good SF.
