”Gunplay” is certainly a dark journey into the racism of the old west. The art work is often stunning, as is the dialogue. Interspersed between each comic-scene are sections of a novella. While the novella is well written I found it confused the overall story, rather than enhance it. I had a very difficult time following the chronology of the narrative as a whole . . . and sections of the novella seemed to conflict the events in the comic section.
A great concept, interesting characters and compelling artwork still make this a solid, yet dark, read.
