A review of Bartholomew of the Scissors #1
Nice. Intriguing theme; creepy & a bit different. Definitely worth a look. Also,as a female? It's pleasant to escape the 100s of supernatural/sciFi comics featuring kick-ass chicks with 48DDD-cups... who go bouncing round 3/4ths-naked while other characters are fully clothed . Even if writing & art is decent, the blow-up doll heroines all look the same—& VERY silly.
A review of Bartholomew of the Scissors #2
An updated Lovecraftian tale, & a rich, dense read. Great lettering, & art seems inspired by Bill Sienkiewicz (not as aesthetically pleasing—a bit ugly even—but it works here). Also ”inspired by” does not mean ”unoriginal.” Um, is it a Spoiler to say that after three issues, still no 3/4ths-naked chicks? The rest is my usual Rant...

Maybe the 'Heavy Metal'-type Barely Clad, Kick-b*tt Chick Series is a sort of a genre unto itself, but to us girl readers, it can be a waste of good writing. Our fantasy is running around, kicking a**, and, yeah—looking Hot. But geez; not like THAT. These ladies must be freezing (DarkChylde is the funniest, but often wondered why S Pezzini wasn't sent home to change into less outre Cop Attire ;-)
A review of The Disc 01
Truly satisfying actioner/conspiracy story. Only big quibble: no WAY a single Disc could hold text, image, and video content recording decades of govt crimes (even 2-sided ;-)—but 'The Brick Drive' doesn't sound as catchy, I guess. Maybe big government bureaucracies have special terabyte data discs not available at local computer shops? No matter; am willing to suspend disbelief, cause this was a blast.
A review of 2048 (Graphic Novel)
A bit too Evangelical for me in places, but the story has some depth, decent character sketches, is well-paced, & worth reading. Some of the developments are insufficiently or simplistically set up due to the shortness of the graphic novel format, but it was a nice surprise regardless. 2048 is a potentially complex and interesting world, despite the 'Chick's Tracts' style moments. There are plenty of themes with the potential to be fascinating and better-realized in a longer series.
A review of Last Blood 01
Nicely done, at worst medium, & rare. Zombies seldom do much for me, & so OVER vampires—yet the concept is genuinely interesting, & that makes this series work. Excess filler pages with sketches & promos are annoying... but only because I wanted more story content. That is a sort of compliment.

If these had been expensive tree-killer format, would have felt ripped off, though. Last Blood's a decent series for this era, but the issues are too flimsy for print prices—as are most comics. However, Wowio rates make it kind of silly to whine.
